November 2013 PopSugar Must Have Review

Well, so much for getting November done before Emily's birthday! I've been gone a little over a week because we took Miss Emily back to Disney World for her 3rd birthday! It was a great time! My little girl is 3! Egads. I'm super exhausted from the trip and once again, have caught Disney Plague - I'm hacking up my lungs - though at least I managed to escape the pink eye that Emily picked up there. Ick. She's all better now though. It actually cleared up super fast once we started her on the eye drops. Anyway, I may write more about the trip in a separate post. For now, I need to get some reviews done since I have so many waiting to be written now! Yikes.

So, starting back up, we'll start with last month's PopSugar Must Have box. I signed up for a 3 month subscription back before the price went up $5 a month to $39.95/month. With the $10 automatic savings if you sign up for the 3 month sub vs monthly plus an additional I think $10 off coupon code they had going at the time, I ended up only paying $85 for 3 months. Not too bad. Anyway, for $39.95 a month (or less for longer subs), you get a selection of mostly (if not entirely) full-sized products that can range from health to beauty to home. It's probably the widest variety box I get.

When I originally signed up, I was told my first box would be December, but I had checked the box that signed me up for the waitlist for an earlier box should one become available, so when one did, I got an email telling me my first box would be November instead.

The first item I found inside the box was a 1.7 oz bag of Bare Fruit Crunchy Sea Salt Caramel Apple Chips ($3.41). I opened it right up to snack on while I checked out the rest of the box. Unfortunately, I'm not really a fan of these. They're very sweet and I'm not really a fan of the crunchy apple chips. I prefer the chewy ones. Oh well.

The other food item in the box was a good sized, 8.3 oz jar of Maison de Monaco Strawberry and Blackcurrant Cream Preserves ($6).  I tasted this right away too, and it's super tasty! This one will definitely go to good use!

Next up, still somewhat in the food category, was a Lands' End Single Canvas Wine Tote (on sale now for $12). It's a pretty cute little wine tote, but we don't really bring wine anywhere or go to many dinner parties where we'd use this to gift a wine, so maybe I'll give it to my inlaws with some wine for Christmas. Otherwise, it's in my trade pile.

Moving on to the home category, everyone got one of 2 varieties of 6.2 oz Illume Candles - Naughty or Nice ($15.95). I got the Naughty candle, which oddly seems to be gone from the site now. It's scent is described as "a rich, woody aroma tinged with exotic spices". I do like it, so I'll keep this around.

In the bath/beauty category this month we got 2 items. The first was a large 4 oz bar of Soap and Paper Factory Shea Butter Soap in the scent Roland Pine ($8). I don't really use bar soaps and this was pretty piney smelling (naturally), so this went to the trade/sell pile and I've actually already sold it!

The other bath/beauty product we got was a little tin of Nicka K Absolute! Nail Polish Remover Pads ($2.99). The tin contains 32 pads and I got the Spring Fresh scent. I haven't gotten to try these yet, but I was excited to get them! This is super portable and I love to bring polish with me on trips, so I'm happy to get these!

The last item, and the biggest, was a Michael Stars Folk Art Wrap ($42). While I am getting into scarves a bit lately, this one was a bit too bulky for me and I'm just not a fan of the print. I would've loved one of the cute Gorjana scarves that have been popping up in boxes lately - I love that Canary one! Anyway, I knew I wouldn't really wear this, so I put it on my trade/sell list and I already sold this as well! It was actually pretty great - my first sale (several items) bought me quite a few of December's boxes to review!

We also got a coupon for $30 at Canvas Pop. Unfortunately, unless I can pair it with a coupon code, the cheapest item is $37 - and that's a rolled canvas without a frame (I don't know how to mount this!), so this doesn't really count towards the value of the box for me. I may look into it anyway because I do have a picture I really love of Emily from my sister's wedding that I would love to blow up, but the bigger sizes do get a bit pricey, so who knows.

At first glance, this box was a bit meh for me. Although it had a value of $90.35, I only really liked maybe 3 things in it? The rest went to my trade pile. Which I've already traded 2 of this box's things from! So, in the end, even if I didn't love everything in this box, I was able to at least use some of the items to cover part of December's box budget! And not every box is as bad as this for me. I do think that once my 3 months is up, I'll almost definitely be cancelling, though. It's such a fun idea and I love the variety because it introduces me to a lot more things than I'd normally go for, but the downside of a big variety is that I feel like it's a bigger chance for misses. As seen here. For me. I'm sure plenty of people loved this box a lot! What did you think if you got it?

If you're interested in signing up, please use my link! If you do, you can use code REFER5 to get $5 off your first month! If you sign up now, your first box would be January's box.

(And just a disclaimer: I bought this box myself and was not compensated for this review in any way. All opinions are my own. I have included referral links.)
