iNZURi I.N.N. Box September 2013 Review

When I saw this month's iNZURi box choices, I thought one of them was pretty awesome, so I decided to stick around for one more month.

For $24.50 a month ($19.50 plus shipping), iNZURi will send you 3 quality polishes (they seem to focus on Essie, China Glaze and ORLY so far, though one box did have a Sally Hansen polish) plus nail care tools, a full size beauty product, and free samples. They have 3 collections each month for you to choose from. Again, I'm sadly blanking on what the other 2 choices were for September (I'm sorry!), but the one I went with was Purple Reign. I love purple! And while I was worried that in their beginning stages as a sub company, they didn't really seem to have a system in place to connect our box choice with our account, thankfully, I got the right box!

Last month, I got a tall box in the mail from them, which included a large reusable plastic box inside (which pretty much all of the contents fit into). I think I originally figured that's how it would always be, which I didn't necessarily mind, since the reusable box was, well, reusable! This month's outer box was a different shape though:
A more standard shape for sub boxes
No reusable boxes here. :( Oh well. It was just a typical sub box with tissue paper and packing paper.
Info sheet
Our nail care product this month was kind of lame in my opinion. A little plastic baggie containing 6 individual toe separators (~$1). I have tons of toe separators from Julep and I'm not sure how well individual ones work compared to the standard connected ones, but it seems odd.

The beauty bonus this month was a Kashmir Keratin Hair System Travel Kit, which includes a Shampoo and Hair Mask. Now, iNZURi quoted this at $89.99. I have NO idea where they got that number because even the Kashmir site, which would be reporting the highest retail price (compared to like, Amazon, or something) only has these 2 products totalling $22.50. Which isn't bad. It's just not $89.99. Even the full size bottles only add up to $75, and that's for 1000 total mL vs the 200 total we got. I'm happy to try these out, but I'm a little disappointed in iNZURi for either accidentally getting the price wrong or misleading us.

As for the polishes, with the Purple Reign box, I got a China Glaze Rendezvous With You ($7.50 retail, $5.49 Sally Beauty), China Glaze Don't Make Me Wine ($7.50 retail, $5.49 Sally Beauty), and ORLY Purple Poodle ($8.50 retail, $7.19 Sally Beauty). I'm not really upset that iNZURi reported the retail prices here, because at least they're right. No sub box is going to report the non-retail cheaper price. The colors are all gorgeous and unique to my collection. I would have preferred that the China Glazes not contain formaldehyde resin, but I suppose it's my own fault for not looking that up before ordering the box. I may use them anyway. The colors are really pretty.

Swatches
My swatches don't fully capture the colors, I don't think. It appears that Rendezvous is getting a bit of a reflection from the ORLY - in person Rendezvous doesn't have that reddish tint. And the ORLY has a definite purple sheen to it which you can only see a hint of near the top in the picture.
September 2013 iNZURi I.N.N. Box
So, overall, I have mixed feelings about this month's box.
Pros:
  • Pretty, pretty colors!
  • Ignoring the value issue, nice bonus items.
  • Overall value $47
Cons:
  • Incorrect bonus value - If they were truly under the impression these hair products came to $89, I'm sure they thought this box was another smash. I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt that they were mistaken rather than misleading to us.
  • Polishes not toxin free. But iNZURi never claimed to only provide only toxin free polish.
  • Silly toe separators that I don't need more of.
  • No reusable box. I guess that was a one-time, first box thing.
Taking a peek at next month's box choices, there just isn't anything that I really want, so I cancelled my subscription for now. I will continue to peek each month at the choices, and possibly rejoin for that month if something looks awesome. In case you're interested, next month's choices are (all linked to their selection page, so you can click if you like it):

I do like the looks of that very last Essie polish, but not enough to get the other 2 with it, which I'm sure are not unique to my collection.

(And just a disclaimer: I bought this box myself and was not compensated for this review in any way. All opinions are my own.)

  1. That is a huge discrepancy in the prices?? Crazy!!! I wonder what on earth happened. Retail prices are pretty easy to verify so I can't see why they'd put down the wrong price??

    1. It really is! I'm trying to believe they were somehow told the wrong price rather than them lying, but I just don't know. The company seems to still be working through a lot of issues. I actually canceled with them a few weeks ago, with the intention of just signing up again for a month here and there if something looked good, but I got charged last week for the month again! Thankfully, they reversed it very quickly when I told them I had canceled, but this was like, the 3rd problem I've had with them.
