I'm actually going to get this out on the day of release for once! Today, like the 20th of every month, is the day selection of boxes opens up for
Julep! It stays open until the 24th. As many Julep polishes I have, I'm still really, really enjoying this subscription.
October's theme is The Rebel Set. It's keeping with the darker fall themed colors, which I'm loving. I actually changed my mind twice while decided on my box today!

This was the picture in our email - I love it! |
This month's featured beauty product is their
Kajal Eye Glider and Sharpener ($22.00 retail, $17.60 member). It's a dual ended brown and black eye liner pencil that supposedly glides on really smoothly. I was sort of torn at first, since I do have quite a few liner pencils, but I love that this is dual ended, so I'm excited to give it a try. Hopefully, it's as creamy as it looks.

Julep Kajal Eye Glider and Pencil |
As usual, I'm not sure how much I can
post from their site on here, in terms of pictures, but this month I may at least post the swatch pictures, linking them to the site - hopefully that's ok.
As always, there are 5 boxes you can choose from (and the upgrade box, which includes all polishes and both beauty products):
- Modern Beauty - this is the beauty product only box. No polish. You
get the Kajal pencil and their new Mask Noir ($32 retail, unknown member price), which is a black face mask that contains "black volcanic ash, kaolin clay, and our own Power Cell Complex™".
The mask is interesting and it might be something I add to my wishlist for a coupon purchase or hope that I'll get in a mystery box one day, but I just never choose the Modern Beauty box - I want polish!
- Boho Glam - Kajal pencil along with Stevie, a dark gray frost, and Dahlia, a dark yellow microglitter.
This
is my default profile (though I can't remember the last time I ordered the Boho Glam box honestly!), but I'm just not a fan of these polishes. Stevie is nice, but not really different enough for my collection and I just hate Dahlia.
- Bombshell - Kajal pencil along with Valerie, a dark teal microglitter, and Cleopatra, which looks like a matte black, but they call it a "latex creme" - I think maybe it's slightly shinier than matte?
This
was my choice this month. I don't have anything like either of them. Valerie is gorgeous and Cleopatra is so different for me. I don't even have a plain black in my collection, let alone a matte one. I'll need to pick up a regular black as well, so I can try the matte nail/glossy tip look!
- Classic with a Twist - Kajal pencil along with Winona, a beige creme, and Anisa, a dark red creme.
The red is pretty, but I have so much red, I just didn't need another. Winona, the beige, just isn't my style at all.
- It Girl - this is the polish only box. You get Missy, a silver metallic, Ciara, a reddish-purple with teal microglitter, and Kendra, a dark green frost.
This was almost my choice this month. I love all 3 colors. I LOVE Ciara. It's just so pretty.
Kendra is pretty too, and much more subdued. However, I'm pretty sure Missy is very close to a non-Julep silver I have already, so I chose the Bombshell box and just added on Ciara and Kendra.
As usual, there were a selection of add-ons, including all the above items separately, nail polish remover, and a matte top coat. There were 2 bonus polishes as well:
- Casper, a glow in the dark shimmer. In light, this looks like a white shimmer. I'm not sure how well it glows on the nails, but the bottle picture looks fun!
I originally added this on for fun, but in the end, I don't do raves or anything like that (I went to a dubstep club for my sister's bachelorette party and, oh my gosh, I was so out of my comfort zone!) and I'd pretty much only end up using this around Halloween. I'm not even sure of how well it works on nails since they didn't picture that. Maybe I'll pick it up at a later time if it gets good reviews, but I think I'm skipping in favor of the next color.
- Beatrix, a black and gold glitter.
So, at first I chose Casper over this one, since I was a bit unsure of the swatches. It looks gorgeous on the darker skin tone, but maybe not as good on the lighter skin tone, which is what I have. I kept going back and forth, though, between this and Casper. How often will I really use Casper? But Casper is something totally different for my collection! In the end, like I said above, Casper would probably be less useful to me and I liked some of their ideas for using Beatrix as a gradient nail topper or accent, so I'm giving this one a try.
So, another month with 3 add-ons, haha, but like always, I'm
excited to get my box! I was so torn this month on which box to choose! Had it not been for Dahlia, Winona, and Anisa, I might have considered upgrading to the full collection (it's probably for the best I didn't, haha!). As usual, if you want to join Julep's
